The Daros Latinamerica Collection in Argentina

The Fundación Proa presents for the first time in Argentina the Daros Latinamerica Collection, an exhibition of works by Latin American artists. Jointly curated by Rodrigo Alonso and Katrin Steffen, the exhibition will be open to the public until September 13, 2015. The curatorial proposal offers a comprehensive look into the artistic practices of artists who are part of the Swiss collection. Reflective and critical artistic productions are generated from concepts like geopolitical tensions, violence, resistances, utopias and the body as territory for social conflict, among others. The exhibition occupies four exhibition rooms in the Fundación Proa and is divided into four thematic groups: •Exhibition Room 1: This section introduces a discussion about the Latin American notion, globalization and the symbols of power. It consists of works by artists Fabián Marcaccio, Teresa Serrano, Jorge Macchi and Milena Bonilla. •Exhibition Room 2: This room consists of works in which references to the everyday are predominant. It showcases works by Doris Salcedo, Mauricio Alejo, Rosemberg Sandoval, Los Carpinteros and Vik Muniz. •Exhibition Room 3: This section underscores the body as a territory for social marks. It displays works by Miguel Ángel Rojas, Rosângela Rennó, Nicola Constantino, Marcos López, Darío Escobar, Juan Manuel Echavarría, Regina José Galindo and Teresa Margolles. •Staircase Area: In this space it is possible to listen to the audio of the work by Humberto Veléz titled La Carrera (The Race) •Exhibition Room 4: Here the ludic and the magical converge through works by Nadín Ospina, Javier Téllez, Leandro Erlich, Gonzalo Díaz and Donna Conlon.
