100 Years of Tina Modotti in Mexico "Trayectorias. Itinerarios de Investigación inspirados en la obra de Tina Modotti"

The Italian Institute of Culture celebrates with the exhibition “Trayectorias. Itinerarios de Investigación inspirados en la obra de Tina Modotti,” the centenary of the arrival to Mexico of this revolutionary photographer and activist. Modotti set foot in Mexico in 1922 ; this arrival is a landmark in her photographic production in which she captured her revolutionary commitment. Mexico “was a source, promoter, and witness of her photographic work and her political commitment." In this country the protagonist of her photographs became indigenous people, peasants, workers, and activists of the Mexican revolution.
Curated by Anna Dusi, this exhibition brings together six contemporary artists to pay homage to Tina Modotti: Italians Alessia Rollo, Alberto Mesirca, Serena Vittorini, and Mexican artists Cannon Bernáldez, Cecilia Ramírez, and Eunice Adorno. From a contemporary point of view, the curatorship proposed space for reflection on Modotti's legacy ; the result is an exhibition composed of photos, testimonies, installations, and performative acts.
“Trayectorias. Itinerarios de Investigación inspirados en la obra de Tina Modotti” will be open until November 18 of 2022 and is held in the Italian Institute of Culture (Francisco Sosa 77, Col. Coyoacán, Mexico City).
