Until September 15, 2024, the Centro de Fotografía KBr of Fundación MAPFRE in Barcelona presents an exhibition dedicated to Paz Errázuriz, a Chilean photographer born in Santiago in 1944. Curated by Carlos Gollonet, the exhibit provides a profound insight into the lives of marginalized individuals in Chile, a recurring theme in Errázuriz's work that seeks to highlight those often overlooked by society.
Errázuriz, a self-taught artist and co-founder of the Asociación de Fotógrafos Independientes (AFI) in 1981, has documented marginalized groups throughout her career. Her work is noted for its trust and respect towards her subjects, as well as her ability to explore the more uncomfortable aspects of Chilean reality.
Throughout her career, Errázuriz has received several awards, including the PHotoEspaña Award in 2015 and the National Prize for Plastic Arts of Chile in 2017. Her work is part of international collections such as the Tate Gallery, MoMA, and the Guggenheim and National Fine Arts Museums of Chile. She also represented Chile at the Venice Biennale in 2015.
The exhibition at the KBr Photography Center is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, with free admission on Tuesdays. For more details on hours and fees, please visit the center’s website.
