Celeste, Solimán López

"Celeste" is an artistic and technological project by Solimán López that is developed with the collaboration of the Embassy of Spain in Colombia through its Ministry of Culture, in the institutions: Planetario de Bogotá, Museo La Tertulia (Cali), Parque Explora (Medellín) and Casa de América (Madrid).
The "Celeste" interface allows you to see live how the skies of different cities integrate into the same self-generative and dynamic image. The project enables connecting the skies of Madrid, Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali in one place, the computer screen. Any citizen from anywhere in the world can admire the work, without leaving home.
This process is possible by sending images of the sky of the mentioned cities in real-time, through beacons installed outdoors. The work aims to break with the historical borders generated by humanity by proposing a new shared space in which the human specie can feel more connected because of the latest technologies.
The work also aims to make us feel connected and transmit that we are an overarching whole, possibly by the rapid developments of technology and art. Thus, remember that humanity lives under the same celestial vault.
The result of this work goes to an online database on the artist's server. It feeds a web space that collects the already digitized state of the sky so that the viewer can observe the correspondence of the real sky with the digital one. In this way, Solimán poetizes the technological act by developing a new digital presence of nature in our closest surroundings.
Solimán López, is an artist of media art. Bachelor in Art History and Master in Art and Communication, director of the R + D + I (Research, Development, and Innovation) department at ESAT (Escuela Superior de Arte y Tecnología of Valencia) and founder of the Harddiskmuseum.
