Celebration of Servando Cabrera's Birthday

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Cuban artist Servando Cabrera-Moreno (1923-1981), the city of Havana is preparing to present a series of events spearheaded by the Museo Biblioteca Servando Cabrera Moreno.

The public will be able to appreciate works by Cabrera-Moreno that have never before been presented outside of the museum. The conferences will be organized by Luz Merino-Acosta, deputy secretary of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and set designer Salvador Fernández.

The Fondo de Bienes Culturales will create a portfolio that will include 12 reproductions of original pieces from several periods in the artist's career. Also to mark the event, two exhibitions have been organized: Erotic Drawings by Cabrera-Moreno, presented at a private gallery in June; and Fountain of Life, presented at the Biblioteca Nacional José Martí during the month of December.

Additionally, it was also announce the presentation of Servando Cabrera: El Abrazo de los Sentidos (Servando Cabrera: The Embrace of the Senses), one of the most thorough books about the life of this artist.
