Cecilia Vicuña at Tate Modern's Turbine Hall

Tate Modern and Hyundai Motor announced that Chilean artist and poet Cecilia Vicuña will install the next annual Hyundai Commission. Her new site-specific work for the Turbine Hall will be on view from 13 October 2022 to 16 April 2023. Catherine Wood will curate Hyundai Commission Cecilia Vicuña, Senior Curator of International Art (Performance), Tate, with Fiontan Moran, Assistant Curator of International Art, Tate. A new book from Tate Publishing will accompany it.

Since Tate Modern opened in 2000, the Turbine Hall has hosted commissions by the world’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, reaching an audience of millions each year. The commissions are made possible by the long-term partnership between Tate and Hyundai Motor, confirmed until 2026 as part of the most extended initial commitment from a corporate partner in Tate’s history. The annual Hyundai Commission allows artists to create new work for the unique context of Tate’s architecture.
