Catherine Nichols will be the curator of its 18th edition, set to take place from September to December 2026. Nichols is a curator, academic, and writer with extensive experience in contemporary art, cultural history, and interdisciplinary projects. Her work has focused on social, political, and environmental issues through exhibitions and cultural initiatives.
In 2022, Nichols served as the curator for Manifesta 14 in Prishtina, titled it matters what worlds world worlds: how to tell stories otherwise, a project that spanned 25 cultural locations and explored the impact of storytelling in art. From 2019 to 2021, she co-led the exhibition Beuys 2021: 100 Jahre Joseph Beuys, a study of the legacy of German artist Joseph Beuys, in collaboration with Eugen Blume.
Currently, Nichols works as a curator at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart in Berlin. Among her upcoming projects are exhibitions featuring artists Delcy Morelos and Petrit Halilaj in 2025.
