Carmen Herrera: Colour Me at The Perimeter

Carmen Herrera: Colour Me In will be on view at The Perimeter in London from 25 September 2020 until 8 January 2021. Carmen Herrera has gained a place in the art history canon, after being reanalyzed in recent years. She began working in the 1940s post-war Paris, moved to New York in the 1950s, but her recognition started in the 1980s.
The exhibition displays rarely seen works made between the mid-1980s and early 1990s, which illustrates a period of the artist’s experimentation that has not been researched carefully. As the exhibition explores a different time from Herrera’s Whitney Museum exhibition of 2016, ‘Lines of Sight,’ which presented works from the artist’s career until 1978. The Perimeter’s show displays a catalog with a text written by Flavia Frigeri. It is a private exhibition space opened by the collector Alexander V. Petalas in 2018; Carmen Herrera’s show is the second solo exhibition at the readapted Bloomsbury warehouse.
