Carlos Zerpa

Venezuelan artist Carlos Zerpa is presenting his new proposal in a solo show at Gallery 2 of La Caja, Chacao Cultural Center.
Titled Días líquidos. Una instalación de Carlos Zerpa and curated by Lorena González, the exhibition posits a reflection around themes of instability, angst, and violence.
According to the curator, here the artist "reproduces a Dante-inspired archetype of the Venezuelan everyday, whose characters—like us—live immersed in a state of detachment hat grows and multiplies their capacities for nullification to reproduce a torrent of unending mistrust; an immediate inversion of forms and a complete loss of reference points".
Over his long, four-decade career, Zerpa has been an artist of unconventional media whose work has traversed diverse fields in the visual arts, such as photography, painting, sculpture, assemblage, video-art, and performance art.
The exhibition, which includes large-format works, will remain open to the public through February 16th, 2014.
