Cámara de Maravillas

The Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín presents Cámara de Maravillas ("Chamber of Marvels"), an exhibition curated by Jens Hoffman. This group show comprising more than one hundred photographs from the Coppel Collection (CIAC - Isabel and Agustín Coppel Collection) and Kadist Art Foundation will remain open to the public through July 3rd, 2016. The starting point for Cámara de Maravillas are the cabinets of curiosities that dotted Europe throughout the Sixteenth Century, which brought together objects from different disciplines. Through them, a collector was able to obliterate the boundaries between art, technology and science, while viewers established their own interpretations and linkages between the objects. The exhibition includes works by Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla; Manuel Álvarez Bravo; Nicolás Consuegra; Mario Cravo Neto; Alexandre da Cunha; Nan Goldin; Rodney Graham; Andreas Gursky; John Gutmann; Jonathan Hernández; Candida Höfer; Daniel Joseph Martinez; Asier Mendizabal; Enrique Metinides; Óscar Muñoz; Kiyoshi Niiyama; Gabriel Orozco; Irving Penn; Marta María Pérez Bravo; Hiroshi Sugimoto; and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others.
