Bytes Analógicos

The exhibition Bytes Analógicos can be visited through February, 2015 at Punto de Encuentro; this space is a multidisciplinary project of the Education and Culture Ministry (MEC) to promote the crossing of artistic languages and the interaction of different disciplines, articulating dialog and reflection between artists, audiences, and institutions. Bytes Analógicos was curated by Daniel Argente, who with this exhibition seeks to honor the historical communion between art, technology, and science, through the crossing of these disciplines' shared borders in the construction of contemporary works of art, to which Argente adds "the byte, transformed in the contemporary world into the articulator of human relationships and their more diverse manifestations. Speaking of a digital culture is, for some, almost unnecessary when we are referring to culture in its widest expression. The title of this show is not merely a pun. It reclaims hybridization for the processes of reflection and production in today's art; between so-called traditional languages and media, in permanent fusion with those that are the product of practices emerged after the irruption of technology and digital media". With the participation of Sebastián Alíes, Fabián Barros, Bryan Mackern, Diego Masi, Juan Manuel Ruétalo, Marcos Umpiérrez, Colectivo Random ,and Plan Ceibal (as the constructor of new interactions), the exhibition presents works of art that play with forms to create hypnotic effects and light-and-sound installations, among others. It also features playfully pedagogical components, with interactive works and others that take advantage of throwaway materials by incorporating them into artistic objects.
