Bogotá Fotográfica 2011

FOTOMUSEO (The National Museum of Photography in Colombia) organizes the fourth edition of the renowned Colombian biennial of photography. Bogotá Fotográfica 2011, Testimony and Vision, Beyond Photojournalism. Mexico is the guest country for this edition. The North American country is represented by 15 of the 47 international artists who will participate in the event. Additionally, 17 national artists will join the prestigious group of participants. The works will be exhibited in 22 spaces across the Colombian capital: in interior spaces like those that belong to the Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá, the Biblioteca Nacional, and to the Centro Cultural Gabriel García Marquéz, among others; as well public spaces, such as fences in bus stops, giant screens, booths that belong to FOTOMUSEO and Transmilenio (an integrated public transportation system). The invited artists include: Alexander Gronsky (Estonia), Agan Harahap (Indonesia), Alfredo Jaar (Chile), François Hébel (France), Gabriel Figueroa Jr. (Mexico), Gabriela Morawetz (Poland), Gastón Ugalde (Bolivia), Graciela Iturbide (Mexico), Joan Fontcuberta (Spain), Marco López (Argentina), Martin Parr (U.K.), Mohammadreza Mirzaei (Iran), Pedro Meyer (Mexico), Thomas Rü (Germany), Wendy Watriss (U.S.), and Zoe Strauss (U.S.), among others. Additionally, the special project entitled "Shooting Cazucá Cameras," will present photographs taken by persons from that Colombian community, including children and young people that have been subjected to forced relocations. Images of their daily life showcase the experiences of the participants and shed light into the social problems they are going through. Bogotá Fotográfica 2011 will also hold 11 workshops at university centers, film series dedicated to Mexican cinema, and 18 conferences with national and international theoreticians.
