BIENALSUR
The General and Artistic Direction of BIENALSUR summons artists and curators to present work projects and research curatorship for the third edition. The Biennial will take place in different venues and spaces located in an expanded and multipolar territories that simultaneously integrates countries from South America with Africa, Asia, Europe, and Central and North America, from July to November 2021.
The proposals must be based on contemporary theories of art and culture, contributing to think, problematize, or give other views and approaches to the multiplicity of vital experiences of our time.
Artists and curators of any nationality, individually or collectively, may apply to the call until June 15, 2020.
BIENALSUR is a project carried out by UNTREF (Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires), an Argentine public university, that intends to contribute from the South in the creation of cultural citizenship.
Its format and operation ensure that the art of each region is not integrated as a small quota of diversity but is presented on an equal footing based on its singularities and limited positions. Among the objectives that encouraged this project was to highlight the constitution of a space that contributes to the development of critical thinking with autonomy to the great canonical stories. Likewise, it seeks to promote the emergence of alternative practices within the world of art and culture, both in the production of ideas and works and in their methods of exhibition, circulation, and consumption.
