On September 20 of this year the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura opened the 2013 edition of La Vasija Biennial with the award ceremony and the inauguration of the exhibition-competition. The event was sponsored by the Museo de la Cerámica Contemporánea Cubana.
Besides selecting the works for the exhibition—152 out of the 183 submitted for the competition—the jury also presented the Fundación Igneri Award to the mosaic entitled Margen (Margin) by Javier Martínez; the Sosabravo Award to the group of plates Los Colores de la Vida (The Colors of Life) by Alejandro Cordovés; the creation grant of the Consejo Nacional e Artes Plásticas to the panel project Tras las Huellas, Pequeña Historia de Amor y Desamor (Following the Traces, Small Love and Heartbreak Story) by Guillermo Ramírez-Malberti; and the Proyecto Alboroto Quieto recognitions to works by Glaucia Basalto, Alder Calzadilla and Jorge Jacas. Headed by Art Critic and Director of the museum, Alejandro G. Alonso, the jury granted an Honorable Mention to Cartuchos (Cartridges) by Ramiro Díaz.
