FotoFest's portfolio review program, THE MEETING PLACE, gives artists the opportunity to meet and show their work to top arts professionals from around the world. The event is literally a "meeting place" – a place where photographic artists, arts professionals, collectors, and colleagues are able to network, collaborate, share ideas, and establish life-long connections.
The Meeting Place Portfolio Review brings together over 500 photographic artists from around the world and across the United States, with over 160 professional reviewers. It is the largest portfolio review program in the world.
Whether you are looking for practical results for a completed body of work or feedback on work in progress, the Meeting Place gives you the opportunity to present your portfolio to a wide range of photography decision-makers who can help assist in your future career development - an exhibition, purchase of your work, an arts residency, or the publication of your work in a magazine or book. Fotofest invite some of the most important people in the field of photography from all over the world to come to Houston to meet registered artists and review their portfolios. The Meeting Place is organized into four 4-day sessions of portfolio reviews. A different group of reviewers is invited for each session. Session 1, March 15 -18, 2014; session 2, March 20-23, 2014; session 3, March 25-28, 2014 and session 4 March 30-April 2, 2014.
Artists are guaranteed a minimum of four appointments per day; a minimum of 16 over the course of each 4-day session. Each one-on-one meeting is 20 minutes in length. Artists are able to register for one or two sessions. Between each session, there are break days where workshops, curatorial forums, exhibition tours, lectures, and symposia take place. The Early registration period is June 3-July 15, 2013.
