Sharjah Biennial 12: The past, the present, the possible (SB12)

On March 5th, the exhibition "Sharjah Biennial: The past, the present, the possible" opened to the public in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, crossing the emirate to sites in and around the city as well as in the city of Kalba on the Gulf of Oman. Over fifty artists and cultural practitioners were invited to introduce their ideas of the possible through their art and work. Curated by Eungie Joo together with associate curator Ryan Inouye, the exhibition features new work and commissions by thirty-six artists and groups, from which the following artists from Latin America have been selected: Leonor Antunes*, Abraham Cruzvillegas*, Jac Leirner*, Cinthia Marcelle*, Eduardo Navarro*, Damián Ortega* and Adrián Villar Rojas* (*presenting new works). The exhibition will run through June 5, 2015. Sharjah Biennial is organized by Sharjah Art Foundation, which brings a broad range of contemporary art and cultural programs to the communities of Sharjah, the UAE and the region.
