The Museum of Art and Design at MDC presents, until May 10, 2026, an exhibition dedicated to the artistic practice of Belkis Ayón (1967-1999) and Carlos Alfonso (1950-1991). The exhibition explores the distinct yet interconnected visual languages of the artists: Ayón’s haunting works rooted in the mythologies of the Abakuá society, and Alfonzo’s expressive paintings shaped by exile and spiritual quest.
Ayón and Alfonso continue to influence generations of artists and shape the way contemporary art history is written. Odyssey offers a new context for the works on display, uncovering each layer of meaning as a starting point for a transformative journey.
