2014 CPPC Travel Award for Curators

The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) and Independent Curators International (ICI) announce the open call for participation in the 2014 Travel Award for Curators. Applicants must have more than three years of professional experience working in curatorial projects. In its third edition, the Award will grant a contemporary art curator from any place in the world a trip to Central America and the Caribbean with the intention of exposing him/her to the arts and cultural activities in these regions. The grant will cover a visit to one or several places in the region, the curatorial residency, visits to studios and/or archival research. The travel period can be anywhere between three and six months, between May and November of 2014. Curators may choose to visit one or more of the following countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, The Antilles, The Bahamas, Colombia (Caribbean region), and Turks and Caicos Islands. The grant will cover costs of up to US$10,000. Applicants must attach to their application forms a letter—approximately 3 pages long—that describes the objective of the curatorial research proposed; along with a travel itinerary or plan for the residency program that includes traveling dates; a budget that includes all expenses; and a Curriculum Vitae. The required documents must be compiled into a single PDF and sent by email toesearch@curatorsintl.org with the subject: Cisneros Travel Award. Applications may be submitted in English or Spanish.
