MUSAC 2009-2010. Scholarships for artistic creation

The purpose of this call is to promote and stimulate artistic creation within the context of today's art and across the artistic spectrum: painting; sculpture; engraving; drawing; photography; video; graphic work; installation; video art; electronic art, and any other current tendencies, including multidisciplinary projects. This will be the fifth edition of the MUSAC Scholarships for Artistic Creation, organized by the Siglo para las Artes Foundation in Castile and León, through the Museum of Contemporary Art (MUSAC) in that same region. Scholarships will be awarded to the best original and recently created projects, or to those never before published but already under production and on their way to being completed, as long as the latter have not received previous support, subsidy, or scholarship. The winners cannot receive any other type of scholarship, support, or subsidy while receiving this scholarship, nor can they be carrying out any other projects that interfere with the evolution of this scholarship. The Scholarships for Artistic Creation offer a maximum prize of 45,000 Euros, to be divided among the chosen projects, the amount for each being 15,000 Euros (before taxes), the maximum amount destined for each. The jury panel includes Agustín Pérez-Rubio, Director of the MUSAC (León), Ma. Inés Rodríguez, Chief Curator of the MUSAC (León), Iñaki Martínez-Antelo, Director of the MARCO (Vigo), Leire Vergara, Independent Curator, and a secretary. They will meet once the entry period has ended. The guidelines to evaluate the works submitted are as follows: artistic quality and innovativeness; expository rigor, and discursive coherence, as well as the projects' suitability to remain within the specified budget. The call for entries will remain open until March 16, 2010.
