The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros of the Fundación Cisneros invites emerging Venezuelan artists to enter their proposals to win a scholarship for the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Colección offers this financial support to those artists who have won this renowned residency. This year, the residency will last from June 9 to August 11. The scholarship offered by the Colección will cover registration, activities and traveling expenses. If a Venezuelan artist cannot be chosen, then the scholarship will be granted to a Latin American artist from another country. Candidates must submit their proposals online by February 1, 2012 at
www.skowheganart.org. Skowhegan has formed a committee that will be entrusted to choose the winner. The Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture was founded in 1946 by a prominent artist of the time. Every year, the School brings a group of 65 artists together with the purpose of "involving" them in an artistic environment that develops and promotes their professional and personal interests.
