The CCU Art Scholarship 2021 opens its call for artists between 30 and 45 years old living in Chile, with the aim to strengthen artists' national and international development by disseminating and exhibiting their work. The sixth edition of the CCU Art Scholarship is being held with an eye on the future and the intention of being a reference in the Chilean art scene.
The initiative that CCU, a multi-category beverage company with operations in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay, has been developing since 1993, supporting projects by contemporary Chilean artists, has mainly been oriented towards promising young Chilean artists. Likewise, throughout its vast trajectory linked to the visual arts, its philosophy has been "Bringing Art to the People," promoting and publicizing the projects of the most outstanding artists, communicating their styles and techniques.
The CCU Art Scholarship is implemented through the Cultural Corporation of the Chilean Chamber of Construction. It is held every two years, considering: call, evaluation, selection, awards, residency, international and national exhibition. The CCU Art Scholarship includes a winner, a second, and a third place. Winning the scholarship includes an artistic residency for the sixth time at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), Brooklyn, New York, including lodging, food, and transportation expenses. In addition, a solo exhibition at an international gallery specializing in Latin American art in Manhattan, New York, and an exhibition at the Sala de Arte CCU in Santiago, Chile.
The previous versions of the CCU Art Scholarship, held during 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 fulfilled all the objectives. The residency has become an important experience for the winning artists, Alejandra Prieto, Raimundo Edwards, Andrés Durán, Catalina Bauer, and Nicolás Grum, and the exhibitions held at the Y Gallery and Galeria Proxyco. In the Sala de Arte CCU, they have presented the evolution of their work after their four-month residency as a contribution and professional development of the artists.
The call is open until August 6.
