"Beatriz González. The Original Second"

During the month of April and May, the Sala de Exposiciones Julio Mario Santo Domingo of the Universidad de los Andes, in Bogota, presented the exhibition titled "Beatriz González. The Original Second." Particularly significant was the curatorship by Maria Fernanda Domínguez, Jose Ruiz Díaz and Lucas Ospina, given that the exhibition was designed to convey the processes of production of the works and incorporated the elements that González used in her projects. Hence, the inclusion of the sources used alongside the preparatory drawings, such as the newspaper clippings, photographs and sheets that reproduce consecrated images from the history of art and that are used to demonstrate the correspondence between the archival images and the works by the artist. The exhibition was organized around five themes: the relationship of Beatriz González with art history; the iconic figures used by the artist to experiment with serigraphy; the relationship with the urban space and its peculiarities; heliographies based on news from the leftwing press published in the Vanguardia Liberal de Bucaramanga periodical; and, lastly, her most recent works, in which the political theme occupies a more important place in her production.
