The Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank announces the call for the II Inter-American Biennial of Video Art to be held in December 2004 at the IDB Cultural Center Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. The objectives of the competition are: to broaden the discussion of economic and social factors that affect Latin America and the Caribbean; to encourage those working in the cultural milieu to use their creative abilities to formulate viewpoints that enhance public awareness and understanding of those factors, and to establish a benchmark for the advancement of video art as a form of expression in the region. Video content must relate to aspects of the economic and social reality of Latin America and the Caribbean. The works may be made using any technique, but they must be submitted to the competition in VHS (NTSC) format only. Videos must be no less than two minutes and no more than five minutes in duration. They must have been made in or after January, 2002. Artists must own the rights on the videos. An exhibition will be presented in 2005 at the Instituto Italo-Latinoamericano in Rome and Santafe de Bogotá´s International Film Festival. The deadline for submission of videos is October 1, 2004.
