The exhibit BAMAKO 7th African Photography Meeting at the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCBS, its Catalán acronym) will be open until June 1. The exhibit presents more than 200 photographs by artists from throughout the world, including landscapes by Pierrot Men from Madagascar and depictions of horses in the city by South African photo-journalist Fanie Jason. Also included in the exhibit is a tribute to photographer Serge Jongué, as well as works by Samuel Fosso, a contemporary photographer from Cameroon who has been producing self-portraits since the age of 13. Among his self-portraits from these past years Fosso has adopted the roles of several African and Western stereotypes, such as that of a businessman, a character from the bourgeoisie, a pirate, and even an African king. In this its fourth edition, this exhibit presented works that focused on the city and on urban life, as well as the ways in which its inhabitants perceive the metropolis and the interactions among these.
