The King and Queen of Spain, Felipe and Letizia, will pay a controversial visit to Cuba from November 12 to 14, and will travel with Goya's Self-Portrait (1815). This is the first time a Spanish monarch makes an official state visit to Cuba. The occasion: the 500th anniversary of the founding of the country’s capital, Havana.
The island’s people will be able to enjoy the self-portrait of the famous Spanish painter Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes from November 13 to December 13 at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes of Cuba.
This self-portrait, permanently exhibited in room 64 of Madrid's Prado Museum, was shown twice before in America: in Mexico City from 1989 to 1998, and in Chicago in 1994.
