Aurora

Conceived as a space dedicated to the reflection and promotion of art creations and different expressions of design, the Galería Aurora opened its doors for the first time with the exhibition titled "In-Between Seasons" by artist Aníbal Vallejo. According to Andrea Walker, director of the institution, "We encourage artists as well as creators from other visual fields to submit their proposals for exhibition. At Aurora we will study those projects that seek to establish conversations with other artists and with our guest curators. Our goal is to find forms of cultural enrichment and to support research that leads to the consolidation of processes and projects." Aurora fosters dialogs at the national and international levels between artists, designers and academics, which are based on the realization of educational events—including seminars, workshops and conferences—and "conversations between productions aimed at overcoming the barriers that have separated the different mediums to the detriment of their intersecting areas and familiar links. One of Aurora's objectives is to favor the points of encounter between the creative reasons of different territories, even between those that appear to be far from each other," added Andrea Walker. "In-Between Seasons" was curated by María Iovino, who found special value in the way that Aníbal Vallejo's gaze intersected the objectives proposed by Aurora. Aníbal Vallejo studied visual arts at the Universidad de Antioquia and fashion design at the Colegiatura de Medellín. This education has helped him develop diverse ways of understanding and expressing the images that he finds and synthetically combines with a clear mastery of color and space. His approaches are also enriched by his natural relationship with literature and the generation of universes stemming from his upbringing in a family of writers.
