Astrid Liliana Angulo Cortés, Director of the National Museum of Colombia

The Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y los Saberes (Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge) has appointed Astrid Liliana Angulo Cortés as the new director of the Museo Nacional de Colombia. Angulo Cortés is a visual artist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a master's degree in arts from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
Throughout her artistic career, Angulo Cortés has focused on delving into Afro-descendant identity through photography, installation, performance, and sculpture. Specifically, her work explores the representation of black women through the lenses of gender, race, and identity.
In her role as director of the National Museum of Colombia, an institution founded in 1823, Angulo will assume the leadership in promoting culture through exhibitions, improving the museum's infrastructure, and implementing administrative and curatorial transformations that enhance the experience of the visiting public.
