The Brazilian Association of Art Critics (ABCA, in its Portuguese acronym) announced, on April 22nd, the names of the visual artists, curators, critics, authors, and cultural institutions recognized by ABCA 2012. The ten award categories highlight those that have made the greatest contribution to cultural development in the country throughout the year. The awards designed by sculptor Nicolás Vlavianos were presented on a ceremony held at the SESC Vila Mariana.

Ciccilio Matarazzo Award (active personality in the field): Ricardo Ohtake (SP).
Clarival do Prado Valladares award (artist´s trajectory): Regina Silveira (SP).
Maria Eugênia Franco Award (curatorship on an exhibition): Olivio Tavares de
Araújo, for Di Cavalcanti: Brasil e Modernismo, Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Curitiba.
Paulo Mendes de Almeida Award (best exhibition): Guerra e Paz, by Portinari, presented at the Memorial da America.
Rodrigo Mello Franco de Andrade Award (programming by an institution): Moreira Salles Institute (SP, RJ).
Antônio Bento Award (promotion of the visual arts in the media): Piauí Magazine.
