Russian artist Pyotr Pavlensky and his family were granted political asylum in France after he was charged in Russia with sexual offenses. The artist has been now apprehended by the French police after setting a bank on fire in Paris. By contending in his declaration that bankers have replaced monarchs, he drew a connection with the French Revolution. His performances are always controversial. He nailed his scrotum to the Red Square in Moscow and set alight the entrance of Russia's Federal Security Service headquarters. While his performances are praised by some who consider him a good artist, others believe that he only wants to get attention. Days before the fire, Pavlensky sent the files of his exhibitions to Russian art collector Marat Guelman, probably aware of the consequences of his performance at the bank.
