Fernando de la Rocque is an artist who has recently generated some controversy for creating works with marijuana smoke. Rocque needs only a white canvas and a cigarette to begin creating his eccentric works of art.
His painting technique simply consists of blowing smoke on a template superimposed on the canvas or paper in order to impregnate this with a yellowish coloration. De la Rocque uses five marijuana cigarettes. He relies on them for inspiration and for the ink used in his work. It takes him one week to complete his works. The results are impressive, but it is rather a strange technique that has attracted a lot of media attention.
Marijuana smoking is illegal in Brazil, nonetheless, his canvases stained with the smoke are sold for up to USD 2,500.00 each. How can he possibly feel after completing one of these works?
