Arthur Bispo do Rosario at Itau Cultural

Starting on May 18th – Brazil’s National Day of anti-asylum struggle at Itau Cultural headquarters in São Paulo, the exhibition Bispo do Rosario – I came: appearance, impregnation, and impact, curated by Diana Kolker and Ricardo Resende, was inaugurated. This exhibition brings together hundreds of works by Arthur Bispo do Rosario (1911 -1989) in parallel with other modern and contemporary artists.
The exhibition also counts with the works of artists whose creative perspectives have affinities with that of Bispo. Nesse sense, two highlights are the members of Ateliê Gaia, a group made up of people who work through the Mental Health Service of Colônia Juliano Moreira. The group will show, among others, works by Arlindo Oliveira and Patrícia Ruth, who coexist with Bispo.
Among the other contemporary artists present are Carmela Gross, Leonilson, Sônia Gomes, Jaime Lauriano, Fernanda Magalhães, Paulo Nazareth, Rosana Paulino, Rick Rodrigues, Rosana Palazyan and Maxwell Alexandre. Along with them, they showed names that marked the Brazilian arts scene throughout the 20th century, such as Abraham Palatnik, Regina Silveira, Aurora Cursino, Flávio de Carvalho, Djanira, Geraldo de Barros, Maria Leontina, Edgar Koetz, Antônio Bragança, Carlos Pertuis, Ivan Serpa, Mônica Nador, Maria Aparecia Dias, and Ubirajara Ferreira Braga.
The exhibition will close on October 2nd. For more information, visit Itau Cultural’s website: https://www.itaucultural.org.br/secoes/agenda-cultural/a-arte-e-a-mistica-de-arthur-bispo-do-rosario
