Art & Climate Change

Columbia University launches “ A Year of Water”, an interdisciplinary investigation to take place throughout the next two semesters, holding exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and symposia focused on water in all of its social, political, cultural, economic, and environmental complexities. This initiative has joined forces with other organizations within the university who have been working extensively on Climate Change research such as the Earth Institute and the Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes.

On September 26, the multimedia Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson will discuss his large-scale works, such as Ice Watch and New York City Waterfalls which have sparked dialogue about climate change and our relationship to nature.

His work is driven by interests in perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self, engaging the broader public sphere through architectural projects, interventions in civic space, arts education, policy-making, and issues of sustainability.

This event is co-presented by Columbia University School of the Arts and The Forum.
