Cuban Art in Brazil

The Instituto Cervantes of the city of São Paulo, in coordination with the Contemporary Art Museum of the Americas in Kendall, Miami, presents the Cuban art exhibition Cruzando la brecha: arte cubano de las dos orillas (Crossing the Gap: Cuban Art from Both Shores).
Curated by Ivonne Ferrer and Jorge Rodriguez, the exhibition presents a part of Cuban art closely linked to its history, diaspora, and exile to the Brazilian public. The works, mainly from the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas and the Rodriguez Collection, belong to Cuban artists who have lived or are currently based in the United States and other parts of the world and whose works represent the continuity of their artistic production. “Crossing the Gap” proposes an integrating gaze that transcends geographic and ideological divisions, offering a space of memory and dialogue where creative freedom and artistic identity converge. In the words of curator Jorge Rodríguez: “Without these works, the history of Cuban visual arts would be incomplete and its narrative inevitably distorted.”
Among the artists featured are: Linet Sanchez, Cirenaica Moreira, Osiris Cisneros, Eduardo Garcia, Lianet Martinez, Panol de la Vega, Carlos Enrique Prado, Luidmila Velasco, Leticia Sanchez, Jorge Rodriguez, Jose Franco, Reynerio Tamayo, Jose Bedia Ana A. Delgado, Aldo Menéndez, Ivonne Ferrer, Carmen Herrera, Noel Dobarganes, Luis Cruz Azaceta, Carlos Estévez, Rubén Torres Llorca, Pedro Ávila, Milena Martínez, Ciro Quintana, Alexis Iglesias, and Gerson Fogaça.
