Art Lima, International Art Fair

Art Lima will open its door next April 25th It is the first International Art Fair held in the South American city and will feature 34 galleries in total, between locals and foreign ones.

Art Lima will bring together visual artists, collectors, curators, critics, and journalists from around the world, as well as the general public.

Sixteen countries will be present in this first edition: Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the United States.

Along with its main section, comprised of local and international galleries, the fair will feature the following activities:

- International Section. Spanish curator Octavio Zaya will present the exhibition Fuera de Sitio, with works by Alberto Baraya, Otto Berchem, Milena Bonilla, Fernando Bryce, Aldo Chaparro, Marlon de Azambuja, Milagros de la Torre, José Carlos Martinat, and Ramón Miranda.

- National Section: Peruvian curators Jorge Villacorta and Carlo Trivelli will present El territorio: los ámbitos / las moradas, with works by 17 Peruvian artists.

- Institutional and Corporate Section: featuring museums and corporate sponsors.

- Iniciando Colecciones program. Peruvian curator Giuliana Vidarte has developed a program specially conceived to foster collecting. Ten proposals will be presented, featuring works by 40 Peruvian artists.

- Roundtable discussions. International guests (curators, artists, gallerists, international fair directors, collectors) will discuss for the general audience the landscape of today's art.

The locale for this first Art Lima will be ESDGE, the Escuela Superior de Guerra del Ejército. Visiting hours are 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Opening day is April 24th (invitation required), and the fair will close on April 28th, 2013.

Art Lima is made possible by a collaboration between Cree Perú, a cultural production and promotion concern specialized in arts and culture events, and the El Comercio group. The fair seeks to formally position Peru in the international contemporary art market, as well as to promote and foster its production, diffusion and commercialization.
