35 galleries will illustrate the Fair's three and a half decades of history in the section Imagining other futures, complementing the 169 galleries included in our General Programme. There will be a further 19 galleries in the Opening Section and 18 in Solo Projects. This outstanding representation of galleries and artists will revisit the best contents of the last 35 editions, while also including key artists of the future. For the first time in over 20 years, ARCO will not have a Guest Country, placing its emphasis instead on the exceptional nature of this year's project and underlining ARCOmadrid's relevance on the international art scene. Our online Course on Collecting, promoted by ARCO Foundation, started on October 22 with a series of video pieces featuring contemporary art collectors and professionals who provide the keys to building an art collection (
www.fundacionarco.es). Imagining Other Futures program boasts over 35 international galleries that have been present at one or another of the Fair's editions, selected by the directors María and Lorena de Corral, and by the curators Catalina Lozano and Aaron Moulton. The curatorial team has studied the programs of each selected gallery in order to choose two artists--often from different generations--to offer unique and exceptional content in each stand. A dialogue is proposed between artists that represent what happened these last three and a half decades at ARCOmadrid with others that show how they envision their future.
