The thirteenth edition of the International Cuenca Biennial will take place on November 25 of 2016 and not on October 21 as previously scheduled. This decision was unanimously approved in recent days by the board members of the Biennial's Municipal Foundation who met in the City Hall of Cuenca. According to Cristóbal Zapata, director of the Biennial, three weeks ago the board spoke with Marcelo Cabrera, Mayor of Cuenca, about the possibility of changing the date. The timing of the allocation of the nonrefundable funds granted by Ecuador's National Council for Culture thought the Development Bank of Ecuador was the main reason behind the rescheduling. The assignation of the USD 200,000.00 support was signed in August. This amount is in addition to the USD 500,000.00 obtained through the Municipality of Cuenca and the funding efforts of the Biennial's Foundation. The total budget nears the one million dollars. The change of date was agreed during a meeting between Cristóbal Zapata and members of the Purchasing and Finance departments of the Municipality. There, it was determined that more time was required to process this economic support granted to the Municipality of Cuenca. According to Zapata, the change of date has not caused any inconvenience to any of the 50 participating artists. to see the artists list please
