The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced today the election of Antony P. Ressler and Elaine P. Wynn as new board co-chairs. Ressler has served as vice-chair of LACMA's board since 2005 and as co-chair of its finance committee. Wynn became a member of the board of trustees in 2011. Both assume the leadership of the board at the time that the museum is expanding its joint work with the County of Los Angeles to create a new building to replace four old facilities on LACMA's east campus. They succeed Andy Gordon and Terry Semel—elected in 2007 and 2009, respectively—who will remain on the board with the title of co-chairs emeriti. In a prepared statement after the announcement of their appointment, Antony P. Ressler and Elaine P. Wynn said that "LACMA is an internationally recognized museum and a meeting place of enormous value to many of the residents of Los Angeles. We are grateful to LACMA's board for their support of this institution and for the faith they have put in us as we take on this responsibility and opportunity."
