Anne Morin will be the new artistic director of the Madridfoto International Art Fair. The fair will celebrate its fifth edition in June of 2013. Morin completed a BFA at L'Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, France, and a Higher National Diploma in Photography at L´Ecole Nationale de Photographie, in Arles, France.
Morin replaces Giulietta Speranza who had been appointed artistic director of Madridfoto since its foundation in 2009. Morin's appointment entails a commitment and challenge that seeks to establish the basis of the fair, to always aim at quality and diversity and to underscore the essential aspects of the fair, in order to transform Madridfoto into a must-see national and international event.
With these goals in mind, the event will include collaborations with other cultural platforms that will involve certain key entities from the world of photography, and that will project and highlight other peripheral components, such as editorials, photographic awards, and photographic agencies.
The new artistic director of Madridfoto has collaborated in important photographic events, among these: Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles (1998-2000), and PHotoEspaña (2001-2004). Since 2004, Morin has been director of diChroma Photography, a company that specializes in the production and travel arrangements of international Photography exhibitions and in the development of cultural projects. She has served as head and curator of exhibitions by important artists like: Julian Schnabel, Jessica Lange, Sarah Moon, Tony Oursler, and Malick Sidibé, among others. Morin has also collaborated with international institutions like the Jeu de Paume in París, the Moscow House of Photography in Russia, the MoPA in San Diego, and the Seoul Art Center, in South Korea, among others.
