"Anna Maria Maiolino. Je suis là / Estou Aquí" (Here I am)
The Musée National Picasso-Paris welcomes Brazilian artist Anna Maria Maiolino in her first solo exhibition in France "Anna Maria Maiolino. Je suis là / Estou Aquí." The retrospective, part of the Brazilian Cultural Season in France and curated by Emilio Khalil, is one of the main events.
Recently awarded a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2024 Venice Biennale, Anna Maria Maiolino will exhibit a hundred works, including drawings, sculptures, paintings, and previously unpublished videos.
At the Picasso Museum, Maiolino's work echoes that of the Spanish artist. While both share a Mediterranean heritage and an exploration of primordial forms, Maiolino breathes a singular perspective into the work, radically redefining the female figure: no longer an object of representation but a subject of creative power.
