Andres Michelena was born in 1963 Caracas, Venezuela. He studied Architecture at Universidad Central de Venezuela. (UCV) (1981-1984). He studied Fine Arts (1985-1989) in the Federico Brandt Art Institute of Caracas. In 1999 he moved to the United States. He currently lives and works in Miami, Florida. Michelena has developed a career as a painter and as a conceptual artist. His recent work focuses on installations, artifacts and Contemporary cutting edge art. He has exhibited in important art spaces in Latin America, Europe, and in the United States. In 2006 he exhibited in Mexico, Miami, Spain, Williamsbourg-NY, Chicago, and Atlanta. His work was exhibited in Museo de Arte de las Americas, San Puerto Rico. In 2006, 2005 and 2004, he participated in the curatorial project Ephemeral Trends. presented at the ARTEAMERICAS Art Fair. In October 2005 he participated in the curatorial project Occurrences: Artists Crossroads, in Chicago, during the Artist¿s Month. From 2000 to present he has participated in ARCO-MADRID, ARTEAMERICAS, ART MIAMI, BUENOS AIRES PHOTO and FIA-CARACAS. In 2007 he will have a solo show at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California. He is currently represented by Hardcore Art Contemporary Space, in Wynwood Art District, Miami, Florida. His works are represented in the most important art collections in Miami- USA, Mexico, Venezuela, Germany and France.
