Andrea Torreblanca

Mexico City, Mexico – The Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo will have new leadership starting January 16, as Andrea Torreblanca takes over the position from Magalí Arriola, who led the institution since 2019.
Andrea Torreblanca has an impressive track record in cultural and artistic institutions. She currently serves as the Director of Curatorial Projects at INSITE, an organization that has been promoting contemporary art projects in the Tijuana-San Diego region since 1992. Her previous roles include Associate Curator at the Museo Tamayo (2012-2015), Coordinator of the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros-La Tallera (2010-2011), and Deputy Director of Curation and Registration at the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art (2004-2008).
With a Master’s degree in Curatorial Studies from Bard College, New York, Torreblanca has earned distinctions such as scholarships from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Jumex Foundation. She was also selected for the Getty Leadership Institute's Emerging Leaders in Museums Program in 2013.
Since its inauguration in 1981, the Museo Tamayo has been a leading space for modern and contemporary art, offering temporary exhibitions and fostering critical thinking. With this new leadership, the museum aims to further its mission of promoting critical dialogues between art and contemporary challenges
