Ana Gallardo Presents "Tembló acá un delirio" at MUAC - Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo

The MUAC - Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City will host the exhibition "Tembló acá un delirio" by Argentine artist Ana Gallardo from August 10 to December 15, 2024. The show, curated by Alfredo Aracil and Violeta Janeiro in collaboration with Alejandra Labastida, addresses themes of feminism and gender-based violence.
Gallardo, who has lived in Mexico since the 1980s, explores in this exhibition the privatization of emotions and social relations within the context of globalization and its impact on the feminization of labor. Her work goes beyond portraying the victim and aims to promote both personal and collective reclamation.
The exhibition is not presented as a retrospective but rather as a diary of Gallardo’s experiences in the Global South, confronting issues of necropolitical and extractivist violence. The show advocates for art as a tool for self-knowledge and mutual support, focusing on criticism of repression and the defense of collective memory.
The opening will include a talk at 12:00 p.m. in the conference room, featuring Gallardo, Janeiro, Aracil, and Labastida, followed by a performance by María Us titled "Te busco en otro nombre" at 1:00 p.m. in Sala 9 of the museum.
