Casa Mário de Andrade New and Expanded

The government of the state of São Paulo confirmed the projects to expand the Casa Mário de Andrade, a museum that honors the writer and modernist icon in the capital, including two properties adjacent to the space of 300 square meters.

To open this year in celebration of the centenary of the week of Modern Art in Brazil (semana modernista), the expectation is that the place will be transformed into a new complex on modernism.

The “week of 1922” celebrations in São Paulo will include a series of exhibitions, such as an immersive experience in the work of Cândido Portinari, at the Museum of Image and Sound, lectures on the legacy of the Brazilian modernists' culture inspired by the literary movement of the time.

The centenary also prompted an avalanche of new books with contemporary analyzes and collections by Graciliano Ramos, Oswald de Andrade, and Mário de Andrade.
