Al desnudo. The Ordóñez Falcón Photography Collection

The exhibition Al desnudo. The Ordóñez Falcón Photography Collection, featuring 93 photographic works and four videos, can be seen at Gallery B of the TEA, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, through January 18, 2015. In the words of Alberto Martín, founder of the University of Salamanca's Centro de Fotografía and now a curator and art critic: "Photography's relationship with the human nude has always been marked by the attribution of objectivity and realism to the photographic medium, its weight in the social function and the variety of uses it can be put to, its strong connection with voyeurism, its links to the mass consumption of images, and the construction and diffusion of stereotypes, as well as the fact that a photograph is often thought to generate a reflex reaction in the viewer, not mediated or naturalized as is the case with other media such as painting or sculpture. This has resulted in the nude form finding in photography a terrain as prominent as it is problematic for its development and expression. The photographic medium, for its part, has found in nude images an important domain for exploration and experimentation."
