1964
Born on December 12, 1964 in the city of Camagüey, Cuba.
1970
He starts going with his uncle to the factory of public advertisements and banners where he worked. It is his first direct contact with the visual features of graphic art which he later quotes as the starting point of his motivations.
1972
Due to the lack of materials, he begins to use cement cartridges which he washes and irons so that he can paint and draw on, later.

He enters the Escuela Elemental de Artes Plásticas “Luis Casas Romero”, in Camagüey.
1977

1978
For the first time a reference of the young artist’s work appears in the journal Adelante from Camagüey for his participation in a group show of first year students of Visual Arts.
1979
He holds his first solo show at Galería de Arte Universal “Alejo Carpentier”, Camagüey.
1980
He completes his basic education and begins studies in painting at Escuela Nacional de Arte de La Habana –ENA.
1984
He completes his studies in painting at ENA and begins a printmaking specialization at Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana.
1987
With the work Kate he receives the First Prize at the National Printmaking Encounter ‘87, Museo Nacional Palacio de Bellas Artes de Cuba.

He obtains his license in Visual Arts with a specialization in Printmaking from the Instituto Superior de Arte. He holds the exhibitions Huracanes, Castillo de la Real Fuerza, Havana. He founds and directs the printmaking workshop at Camagüey.
1990
He holds several solo shows in different places of the country.
1991
He is appointed as Jury of the Provincial Salon La plástica en abril, at Las Tunas, along with Rafael Ferrero, Raúl Alfaro and Mario Trenard. He continues to show his work in several gallery spaces of the island.
He hands in an engraving with the sonet Agramonte, by Nicolás Guillén, at the Writer Encounter of his natal province.
1992
He marries who was then a student of the Instituto Superior de Arte, Aziyadé Ruiz, a painter today, with whom he had two children and who is represented in his work.
1993
He begins teaching as engraving profesor at the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA).
1994
He teaches one semester at Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas San Alejandro. His first son José Pablo is born. At the end of that year, along with Tania Bruguera, he travels to Monterrey, México.
1995
In June of that year he teaches a course at that city’s university to graphic work professionals. In December he meets gallery owner Nina Menocal, who selects two of his engravings to send to the Latin American Engraving Biennial of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
During his stay in Mexico he is informed of the award he has obtained at the 11th Latin American and Caribbean Biennial in Puerto Rico. Also at the Aztec country, he meets personalities such as artist Julio Galán —who he admires— and critics Osvaldo Sánchez and Raquel Tibol. A collector, a Christie’s representative in Mexico, acquires a work by the artist.
1997
He obtains the Grand Award of the National Engraving Salon of 1997 among 160 participating works by 74artists of the country.
