Relying on the experience of 10 international artists, who for the period of a month will reside in several neighborhoods in Santiago, the Centro de Arte Caja de Burgos, in Spain, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) in Santiago, Chile will present the exhibition entitled Agenda Santiago. This joint project will be first shown at MAC, from November 30 of this year to January 27 of 2013, and then will travel to the CAB in Burgos in May.
The artists selected are: Narda Alvarado (Bolivia), Javier Arce (Spain), Marcos Chávez (Brazil, Geert Goiris (Belgium), Meiro Koizumi (Japan), Mateo Maté (Spain), Iván Navarro (Chile), Julia Oschatz (Germany), Gonzalo Puch (Spain) and Lucy Skaer (UK). They will develop the project based on their experiences as residents in downtown Santiago and in the western part of the Commune of Santiago, as they create new works influenced by the culture and idiosyncrasy of the city.
The works will be created at the MAC, where the artists have a space to develop their creative processes, as they will also be exposed to fine art students, local artists and the people of Santiago in general. Behind this new project, there is also the interest of recovering, revitalizing, and evaluating an area of Santiago that is currently in a state of decline. This experience, spearheaded by the Centro de Burgos five years ago, has allowed almost all the artists invited to exhibit their work in galleries in Madrid, São Paulo, New York, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
