Poster by Cecilia Paredes for La Quinzaine Des Réalisateurs 2022
In recent days La Quinzaine Des Réalisateurs unveiled the poster for the 54th edition of the filmmakers' event to be held from May 18 to 27, 2022, as a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival.
The poster comes from a photo performance titled "Blue Flight," in which "At once visible and invisible, the artist melts into the image she creates, like filmmakers in their films," remarked a press release from La Quinzaine.
In "Blue Flight," Cecilia Paredes poses on her back in front of a background printed with birds in blue tones and floral motifs. Her body is painted and covered with a fabric of the same print and sometimes seems to disappear in that same decor.
Originally from Lima, multi-disciplinary artist Cecilia Paredes (1950) lives and works between Peru and the United States. Her work explores the themes of nature and the interaction between the body and its environment.
La Quinzaine Des Réalisateurs is an independent section of Cannes created in 1969 and aimed at auteur productions. In previous editions, it has been attended by now-established names such as George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Ken Loach, and Jim Jarmusch.
