The Metropolitan Museum signed an agreement in Rome in February, formalizing the title transfer of six antiques, including a group of sixteen Hellenic silver pieces, to Italy In exchange, the Italian Minister of Culture agreed to allow the Metropolitan Museum to exhibit the 2,500-year-old Attic crater, attributed to pottery craftsman Euxitheos and painter Euphonios until January 2008. The MET will keep the Hellenic silver collection until 2010. The accord stipulates that, as is the case of the crater and the silverware, the rest of the objects were acquired by the museum in good faith and will be returned to Italy as soon as possible. The minister has also agreed to provide the Metropolitan with future loans.
