Until August 20th the Queens Museum of Art in New York exhibits a collective exhibition project which attempts to discover and understand the multiple forms of devotion that inspire Mexico City, with respect to its most dear, intimate and affectionate aspects. Curated by Cristina Faesler and Jeronimo Hagerman, a group of artists are united, who, through various manifestations, expose the livelihoods of existence in a place like the Mexican capital. Fragments of the city, its people, activities, joys and sadness form a conglomeration of images that allow the spectator to discover the city. This project started to become a reality through the publication of a book, and, as its precursors declare: ¿One day the title appeared: ABCDF, and immediately the project became a dictionary, a repertoire of images referring to Mexico City, ordered from A to Z. This is how we began to construct upon a list of words that after several months turned into more than 900. The artists, photographers and writers who gradually joined the project were adding their proposals to this extensive enumeration, that bit by bit found its definitive shape.¿
