David Rockefeller dies at age 101

Regarded as a businessman and philanthropist, David Rockefeller came from one of the wealthiest families in the United States. He was known for the important donations he made to museums and other cultural institutions. According to Fraser P. Seitel, spokesperson for the family, Rockefeller died during his sleep on Monday March 20, 2017 at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York. David Rockefeller was the former president of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. In 1994, he presented at the MoMA the exhibition titled "Masterpieces from the David and Peggy Rockefeller Collection: Manet to Picasso" which consisted of 21 works. To celebrate his 100 birthday in 2015, he pledged 100 million dollars to the MoMA's endowment to be received after his death. He also donated his parents' art collection to the Asia Society in New York City and, in 1959, he founded the art collection of JP Morgan Chase.
